210. Joseph Francois Briant was born in Paris, France (Fontvrault; Arjon). Joseph is also said, by Irma Sompayrac, to be from "Juarico, France. They went to the West Indies to seek their fortune and settled on the Ile S. Dominique in the Quartier des Govaives. Here their children were born and reared. One of them, Johephine Desiree was born in May, 1782.... When the insurrection came...these families were rescued by faithful slaves and escaped by boat to New Orleans."
