640. William Cloud ⁽¹⁾ was born on 8 Jul 1621 in Southbroom, Devizes, Wiltshire, England. He died on 25 Aug 1702 in Concord Township, Chester Co., Penn Province, US. He has reference number J001.

1625: Born Calne, Wiltshire, England.

1647: Married Susan James at Calne, Wiltshire England on 7 June. Had six children, all born in England.

1649: William, born 29 July; married Grace Willis at Blakeland Mill, Wiltshire, on 4 Aug.; had 6 children; died 1719; buried Chester Pa; Calne TWP.

1651: Joseph, born 26 Sept.; married Mary Moore (nee Green)March, 1676; died 1739; buried Concord TWP, Chester, Pa.

1653: Susan, born 21 Oct. died young.

1655: Sussanna, born 14 Nov.; married Lukens in 1676; remained in England.

1656: Robert, born 9 July; married Phoebe Neale in Salisbury, England on 29 July 1682; 3 children.

1659: Jeremiah (I1), born 7 Feb.; married Elizabeth Bailey.

1663: Infant born 2 Mar.; died 2 Mar. 1664.

1664: John, born 2 Mar.; married Ann Beeson in 1676; 4 children; died 1744; buried at Brandywine Hundred, New Castle, Pa.

1681: Purchased 500 acres of land from William Penn in America.

1682: Came to America with wife and 5 sons. "Arrived in Maryland with sons: Joseph, John, William Jr., Jeremiah, Robert."

The land he had bought from William Penn was laid out in error in New Castle County, Delaware. They seem to have resided in Concord Township, Chester (now Delaware County), Pa.

1700: William made his will on the "20 Day of the 7th Month 1700" which method of dating is usually a Quaker designation.

1702: William died; will was probated at Chester, Aug. 25 as follows: "I, William Cloud of Concord Sem. in County of Chester, being aged and well stricken in years, do give unto my son, William Cloud, 100 acres of my purchased land; To my son, Jeremiah Cloud, 200 acres of my purchased land; To my sons Joseph, John, and Robert Cloud, one English shilling if demanded; To my granddaughter, Hannah Cloud, daughter of Jeremiah Cloud, all the rest of my estate, both real and personal, she to be Executrix. Son Jeremiah to be overseer." (Register of Wills, Philadelphia.) William was buried in Concord TWP, Chester, Pa.

1715: The original grant was confirmed unto his heirs in July. The descendants of William Cloud, from his five sons, in early times settled in Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Georgia.

v. Robert Cloud⁽¹⁾ was born on 9 Jul 1656 in Calne, England. He died about 1720. He has reference number I007. Robert apparently returned to live in England ca 1686 or 1688, but seems to have returned to America in 1699.

!2. He was born Jul 9, 1656 at Wiltshire, England and
married Phoebe Neale, age 18, on Jul 29 1682. He was 25 at
the time. Both were of Seend, Eng and were married at
Melksham, Wiltshire. His occupation at the time was a
shoemaker. He migrated to America with his family. Robert
received a warrant of 200 acres in Chichester township,
Chester Co, Pa., Setp 1684, which he sold in 1686 to his
brother William Cloud Jr. and returned to England. He
returned to America and settled in New Castle Co. Delaware.

!3. Came to America with his parents on the ship UNICORN in
1682 Returned to Wiltshire England in 1686 & later returned
to New Castle Co. Del. Lived at Brandwine Hundred, about 6
