General fertilizer recommendations
General fertilizer recommendations are based on soils of average fertility 
having no major imbalances of major soil nutrients.  

Fertilizer Equivalent per 100 ft of row or Crops per 300 sq.ft Sidedress
Beans, (Snap, Lima, 2-3 lbs 8-24-24 or Butter), Peas or 2-5 lbs 8-8-8 ---------- Beets, Carrots, 4-5 lbs 8-24-24 3-4 weeks after Kohlrabi, Radishes, or 6-7 lbs 8-8-8 planting Rutabagas, Turnips Cabbage, Collards, 5-6 lbs 8-24-24 3-4 weeks after Broccoli, Brussells or 8-8-8 after planting and Sprouts, Cauliflower again in 2-3 weeks. Cantaloupes, 3-4 lbs 8-24-24 Once when vines Watermelon, or 5 lbs 8-8-8 begin to run Honeydew Celery 5 lbs 8-24-24 Once after frost danger or 7-8 lbs 8-8-8 and again in 3-4 weeks Corn(Sweet) 4-5 lbs 8-24-24 At 1 ft and 3 ft tall or 6-7 lbs 8-8-8 Tomato 4-5 lbs 8-24-24 At first fruit set and or 6-8 lbs 8-8-8 every 3-4 weeks thereafter Lettuce, Endive, 3-4 lbs 8-24-24 Escarole, Romaine, or 8-8-8 3-4 Weeks after Fennell transplanting Onion, Garlic, 3-4 lbs 8-24-24 4-6 Weeks after Shallot or 4-5 lbs 8-8-8 bulb onion and garlic in March, as it swell. Mustard 3-4 lbs 8-24-24 3-4 Weeks after Parsley, Spinach or 8-8-8 Planting Okra 2-3 lbs 8-24-24 after first pod set & or 3-4 8-8-8 every 4-6 weeks thereafter Pepper, Eggplant 4-5 lbs 8-24-24 as first fruit set or 8-8-8 Potatos (Irish) 5-6 lbs 8-24-24 after plants are 6-10 or 6-8 lbs 8-8-8 inches tall Potatos (Sweet) 3-4 lbs 8-24-24 - or 4-5 lbs 8-8-8 Squash, Cucumber, 3-5 lbs 8-24-24 as plants begin to Pumpkin or 4-6 lbs 8-8-8 run and again in 3-4 weeks
